PROFILE
Born in the Ukraine, I studied art at Kiev Art School. In 1987 I graduated with a Degree in Architecture from the Kiev State Institute of Arts. Although working in the architecture industry, then as a graphic designer and also raising children kept me away from painting for twenty years, I believe this break was for the good.
After moving to New Zealand with my family in 2000, I began experimenting with different mediums and techniques (gouache, oil, collage in combination with watercolour and acrylic), and also returned to painting MATRYOSHKA. I was able to break away from the representational, realistic approach. Since 2001 I have regularly exhibited these works (a mixture of reality and fantasy) at the NZ Academy of Fine Arts, WAG, Watercolours NZ and elsewhere.
